This generator draws a symbol; it does not allocate a GTIN, establish your right to use a number or replace GS1 Polska rules and retailer or warehouse requirements.

How to use the calculator
- Choose EAN-13 or Code 128 according to the receiving label system.
- Enter the value and generate a code. An incorrect check digit in a 13-digit input is rejected.
- Download SVG or PNG and test the printed scan; keep the white margin.
Calculation details
Formula and calculation method
EAN-13: multiply the 12 digits alternately by 1 and 3. Check digit = (10 − sum modulo 10) modulo 10. Code 128 selects character sets A/B/C and calculates its symbol checksum. Both images use black bars on a white background.
Worked example
For technical example 590123412345, the weighted sum is 83, so the check digit is 7 and the result is 5901234123457. This is an arithmetic example, not a number allocated to you. Entering 5901234123454 causes an error.
Limitations
- We do not register GTINs or check ownership or product databases. A valid checksum does not establish a right to use the number.
- This is an image generator, not a certified print-quality verifier. Pixel dimensions do not confirm GS1 physical-size requirements.
- Code 128 is not GS1-128: no FNC1 or application identifiers are added. EAN-8, UPC, carton symbols and batch printing are not included.

Frequently asked questions
Does the generator allocate an EAN number?
No. The image represents supplied digits. For traded products, establish the correct GTIN and your right to use it through GS1 Polska or the relevant GS1 organisation, then meet recipient requirements.
Why can I enter 12 digits?
For EAN-13 we complete a twelve-digit body with its calculated check digit. With thirteen digits, we check the last digit and reject an error rather than silently changing the number.
Are inputs sent or saved?
We do not send content to code-generation services, analytics or registers. Inputs and images remain in browser memory. Downloading, copying and printing are your actions; files or the clipboard may contain confidential data.
Which download format should I use?
SVG keeps sharp edges when resized. PNG is a raster image; do not stretch it unevenly or remove its white margin. Test a scan at the final size and on the intended material.
