Polish umowa-zlecenie in 2026: how to calculate net pay

The same gross amount under a Polish mandate contract can produce different take-home payments. Confirm insurance and tax withholding with the payer before calculating deductions. This guide separates eligibility decisions from arithmetic and shows which figures to compare with your payment statement.

Simple Tools editorial teamReviewed: 30 September 2026

Prepare the data for one payment

Enter one gross payment, not annual income or your bank deposit. Prepare the confirmed ZUS status, any voluntary sickness registration, previously used contribution bases and tax declarations accepted by the payer. Selecting the scope confirmation does not replace checking the documents.

The model covers mandatory social and health insurance, confirmed health-only coverage with other employment guaranteeing the minimum wage, or a pupil/student under 26. Own-employer work and complex overlapping insurance titles need separate review; the contract name alone does not establish the correct scenario.

Student status and youth relief are separate

A pupil/student under 26 can have a mandate-contract contribution exemption, but that is separate from the PIT exemption. Confirm insurance status and, independently, eligibility for tax relief on the whole payment. The own-employer exception remains outside the calculator’s supported scope.

For PLN 5,000 gross, a student without youth relief, using 20% costs, a 12% advance and no PIT-2, receives PLN 4,520.00 in the model. Confirmed full relief with sufficient unused cap gives PLN 5,000.00. Check the shared PLN 85,528 cap; partial crossing is rejected for individual payer calculation.

From gross pay to the PIT advance base

In the full-insurance scenario, the recipient funds pension at 9.76% and disability at 1.5%; registered voluntary sickness is 2.45%. The 2026 pension/disability basis has an annual PLN 282,600 cap, while voluntary sickness has a monthly PLN 23,550 cap. Enter the used basis, not the contributions already paid.

Within the supported scenario, health is 9% of gross pay less recipient social contributions. Ordinary tax costs are 20% of that post-social amount. The PIT base and advance round to whole PLN; contributions round to cents. Tax costs reduce the taxable base: they are neither an extra payment nor an actual cash expense.

Worked example: PLN 5,000 with full ZUS

Assume full ZUS with registered sickness insurance, unused caps, the ordinary 12% advance and no PIT-2 or relief. Social contributions are PLN 685.50 and health PLN 388.31. Tax costs are PLN 862.90, the rounded base PLN 3,452 and PIT PLN 414. Net: 5,000 − 685.50 − 388.31 − 414 = PLN 3,512.19.

Payer cost is a different figure from net pay. With an illustrative 1.67% accident rate and confirmed FP/FS and FGŚP obligations it is PLN 6,024.00. Funds are not switched on by default; verify obligations and exemptions. Without sickness insurance or those funds, this example gives net PLN 3,611.67 and payer cost PLN 5,896.50.

PIT-2 and a small-contract lump sum are different

In ordinary mode select the accepted PIT-2 reduction: PLN 0, 100, 150 or 300. Do not reuse it for later payments in the same month. Selecting 32% represents a request for a higher advance; the tool neither totals annual income nor automatically determines the PLN 120,000 threshold.

The 12% gross-revenue lump sum requires a confirmed whole contract with a specified amount no greater than PLN 200, without costs, PIT-2 or youth relief. A low payment or hourly rate alone is insufficient. Ordinary mandate payments up to PLN 200 are excluded: historical-tax health-cap treatment needs individual assessment.

How to investigate a difference from the payer’s statement

Compare gross pay, ZUS status, sickness coverage, used caps, tax costs and PIT-2 in that order. Then compare each contribution and advance before the final net figure. The confirmed health-only scenario for PLN 5,000, 20% costs, a 12% advance and no PIT-2 gives PLN 4,070.00, not the full-ZUS result.

Keep the assumptions alongside the result. The form confirmation is not a ZUS decision and the estimate is not annual PIT. Entries stay in your browser; copying and printing are deliberate actions. If your situation is outside scope, ask the payer to explain the settlement rather than adjusting fields to force an expected amount.

Frequently asked questions

Does a student always receive gross as net?

No. Contribution exemption and tax relief have separate conditions. Confirm status, income eligibility and the remaining cap; selecting student status alone does not remove PIT.

Does the calculator check minimum hourly pay?

No: working hours are not entered. Net pay for one payment does not establish minimum-hourly-pay compliance or correct classification of the contract.

Why can payer cost exceed gross pay?

Full ZUS adds payer-funded contributions and funds when due. The actual accident rate and fund obligations must be confirmed for the specific payer.

Can the tool calculate a payment crossing the relief cap?

Not in full-relief mode. The calculator rejects partial crossing of the remaining cap rather than presenting a simplified result as a correct payer settlement.

Official sources and scope

This guide covers one 2026 payment to a Polish resident from a domestic business payer. Work for your own employer, B2B, PPK, benefits in kind and other deductions are excluded. Contract classification and insurance status are not determined here. Confirm the scenario and documents with the payer; this is not legal advice or an annual PIT return.
