Calculation details

Formula and calculation method

Mifflin–St Jeor BMR is multiplied by a selected indicative activity factor from 1.2 to 1.9.

Worked example

If BMR is 1,500 kcal and the activity factor is 1.55, indicative TDEE is 2,325 kcal per day.

Limitations

  • Activity multipliers are simplified, while actual expenditure depends on body composition, health and measured activity.
