Practical guide
How do Polish grade averages and admission points work?
Polish education calculators answer different questions: some describe existing results, while others convert them under admission rules. This guide helps you choose the correct tool and avoid mixing scales.
Ordinary and weighted averages
An arithmetic average treats every grade equally. A weighted average multiplies each grade by its assigned weight, adds the products and divides by the total weight.
Weights are not grades or percentages. If a school gives a test weight 3 and a quiz weight 1, the test affects the result three times as strongly.
Two parts of secondary-school admission
Polish eighth-grade exam results convert into up to 100 points. The other part covers selected certificate grades, achievements, honours and volunteering.
Calculate the exam and certificate components under the official rules for the admission year before combining them on the 200-point scale.
Universities publish their own formulas
There is no single national university-points scale. A programme can specify subjects, examination levels and coefficients in its admission resolution.
Only enter weights from the selected university document, and compare the result with lists for the same programme and admission round.
